25 ASC Log no. 260 ASSAR was asked to go on standby at 11.28 by the police to help locate  a young missing male in the Pill area west of Bristol. The missing male was located shortly afterwards by HM Coastguard and the team was stood down at 11.57

24 ASC Log no. 1044 ASSAR was contacted by the police concerning a cliff search in the Avon Gorge for a missing person. ASSARs Tech team was called out at 20.56 . It was decided at 21.25 that no further resources were required and the team was stood down.

23 ASC Log no. 0359 The police asked for ASSAR to help in the search for a young missing female in North Bristol. ASSAR went on standby at 14.53 but was then stood down at 15.14 as she was located.

22 ASC Log no. 0525 Police contacted ASSAR concerning reports of a male entering a river near Bridgwater. ASSAR went on standby at 16.07 while discussions took place with the police then was called out at 16.25 for a search using our Swiftwater Rescue Technicians and bankside search trained personnel. As team members were arriving the police located the male in another location and the team was stood down at 17.16.

21 ASC Log no. 0915 ASSARs Tech rope rescue team was asked by the police to respond with other emergency services to locate a despondent male in the Avon Gorge. The team was put on standby at 20.50 then called out at 21.00. As the team leader arrived on scene a decision was made that others were not required and the team stood down at 21.16.

20 ASC Log no. 508 ASSAR was put on standby at 17.45 following contact by the police with concerns for the welfare of a high risk missing person in the Snuff Mills area of Bristol. ASSAR was called out at 18.05. Search teams were being deployed into the wooded valley and parkland areas when police confirmed they had located the missing individual outside of the search area. The team was stood down at 20.16.

19 ASC Log no. 0513 ASSAR was contacted by the police at 12.29 regarding walkers in a gully in the East Harptree area of the Chew Valley. The situation resolved itself while ASSAR was discussing the incident with the police and no action was required.

18 ASC Log no. 1220 ASSARs technical rescue team was requested at 01:21 by the police in Avon Gorge to assist with a missing person search. The situation was resolved and the team stood down at 03:28.

17 ASC Log no. 368 ASSAR was contacted by the police at 20:39 concerning a high missing person in woodland near Clutton. The team was put on standby but then stood down at 20:53 as the situation had been resolved.

16 ASC Log no. 1000 The police contacted ASSAR concerning a missing 60year old male suffering from Parkinson’s Disease. ASSAR was put on standby at 08.34 while search planning discussions were held with the police. The team was called out at 09.29 to meet in Yate. Search specialists deployed into farmland and woodland areas as part of the wider effort to locate the missing person. Following a sighting from a member of the public the missing person was located on farmland. The team assisted with moving the casualty to a safe location and handing him over for medical care. ASSAR was stood down at 15.10.

15 ASC Log no. 281 At 09.49 ASSAR was put on standby following a request from the police to help with a search for a despondent female from Meare, near Glastonbury. The team was called out at 10.18 to assist. Search specialists were deployed into a variety of areas south of Meare that cover the large wetlands of Ham Wall and Shapwick Heath National Nature Reserve. Police on foot and with dogs and horses focussed on areas to the north of the village. At 19.33 all members were stood down to allow for rest. At 07.42 on Sunday 16th July the team was called out to continue the search. The search remained focussed on the water courses and margins of the area. At 11.57 the team was stood down after the missing female was located safe and well having returned to the area from nearby Glastonbury.

14 ASC Log no. 1389 ASSAR was contacted by the police with concerns over a vulnerable missing male in Clevedon who had not returned home since 19.00 the previous evening (05/07). ASSAR was put on standby at 04.14 then called out at 04.22. Search specialists were sent into wooded areas with steep ground in coastal areas, working adjacent to Clevedon Coastguard search teams. Public parks, graveyards and river banks were also searched. A request for further team members was sent at 10.14. Police dog units, horses, helicopter and officers on foot worked in a coordinated way with our teams and the Coastguard. ASSAR was stood down 13.10 pending further police investigations. The missing gentleman was located later that day in Clevedon and taken to hospital for checks.

13 ASC Log 599 ASSAR was asked to go on standby at 16.13 following concerns that two young males were missing in the Odd Down area of Bath. As the team members were responding with their availability the missing subjects were found and the team stood down at 16.20.

12 ASC Log no. 957 ASSAR was put on standby at 19.27 following reports of an injured person in Cheddar Gorge. ASSARs technical rope recue element was called out at 19.39. Team members assisted the other emergency services as a male with a broken ankle and his climbing partner was moved to safety. The team was stood down at 23.29.

11 ASC Log no. 55 ASSAR was asked to go on standby at 03.54 by Avon & Somerset Police following concerns for the welfare of a missing male in the Brean area. The team was then called out at 04.17 to work alongside the Coastguard. As the situation was evolving it was decided to stand down ASSAR at 04.43. The missing male was located safe and well at 07.07.

10 ASC Log no. 214 The police initially contacted ASSAR at 09.06 concerning Anna Lewis, a missing nurse from the North Bristol area. Search planning and information gathering followed for most of the day. The team was then put on standby at 15.46 then called out at 17.05 as locations had been identified where our specialist search skills could be used to help the wider investigation. Search teams deployed into overgrown woodland areas. ASSAR was stood down at 20.50 pending further information from the police. The missing lady was located the next day safe and well in North Devon.

09 ASC Log no. 573 ASSAR was put on standby at 14.33 then called out at 15.03 following reports of a woman stuck above the cliffs in Cheddar Gorge. Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and ASSAR conducted a hasty search along the cliff tops until a member of her family was located. The woman was uninjured in a steep gully having gone down to locate her dog. DSFRS moved the woman and injured dog to the cliff top while two members of ASSAR provided local knowledge. ASSAR was stood down at 16.40.

08 ASC log no. 165 ASSAR was asked to go on standby at 10.58 by the police following concerns over a missing adolescent female in the Berrow area. The police requested and were supported at the scene by one of ASSARs search advisors along with other agencies. The coastline was searched by the Coastguard but ASSAR was not required to deploy searchers. The team was stood down at 13.23. The missing female was found safe and well in Taunton on 06/04/17.

07 ASC Log no. 671 ASSAR was asked to go on standby at 17.56 following concerns for a high-risk young male in Bristol. As the planning and investigation developed ASSARs attendance was not needed and the team was stood down at 22.06.

06 Avon & Somerset Police contacted the team requesting assistance with a search for a missing male in the Glastonbury/Street area. The team was put on standby at at 10.52 then called out at 12.56. Four search party’s began to search farmland and water margins. The body of the missing male was located in water within the search area. ASSAR members assisted the police at the scene and recovered the body to a safe area. The team was stood down at 16.26.
