10 ASC Log no. 214 The police initially contacted ASSAR at 09.06 concerning Anna Lewis, a missing nurse from the North Bristol area. Search planning and information gathering followed for most of the day. The team was then put on standby at 15.46 then called out at 17.05 as locations had been identified where our specialist search skills could be used to help the wider investigation. Search teams deployed into overgrown woodland areas. ASSAR was stood down at 20.50 pending further information from the police. The missing lady was located the next day safe and well in North Devon.

09 ASC Log no. 573 ASSAR was put on standby at 14.33 then called out at 15.03 following reports of a woman stuck above the cliffs in Cheddar Gorge. Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue Service and ASSAR conducted a hasty search along the cliff tops until a member of her family was located. The woman was uninjured in a steep gully having gone down to locate her dog. DSFRS moved the woman and injured dog to the cliff top while two members of ASSAR provided local knowledge. ASSAR was stood down at 16.40.

08 ASC log no. 165 ASSAR was asked to go on standby at 10.58 by the police following concerns over a missing adolescent female in the Berrow area. The police requested and were supported at the scene by one of ASSARs search advisors along with other agencies. The coastline was searched by the Coastguard but ASSAR was not required to deploy searchers. The team was stood down at 13.23. The missing female was found safe and well in Taunton on 06/04/17.

07 ASC Log no. 671 ASSAR was asked to go on standby at 17.56 following concerns for a high-risk young male in Bristol. As the planning and investigation developed ASSARs attendance was not needed and the team was stood down at 22.06.

06 Avon & Somerset Police contacted the team requesting assistance with a search for a missing male in the Glastonbury/Street area. The team was put on standby at at 10.52 then called out at 12.56. Four search party’s began to search farmland and water margins. The body of the missing male was located in water within the search area. ASSAR members assisted the police at the scene and recovered the body to a safe area. The team was stood down at 16.26.

05 Our rope rescue ‘Tech’ team was called out at 16.20 to assist other emergency services move a female with lower leg injuries from Cheddar Gorge. Team members carried her down to the road side and to the waiting ambulance. The team was stood down at 17.25.

04 ASC Log no. 439 Following concerns over the welfare of a vulnerable missing male in the Chard area the team was asked to be put on standby by the police at 14.57 to support Exmoor SRT who had been involved during the day. ASSAR was then called out at 16.11. As part of a large, coordinated search effort ASSAR parties searched fields south of Chard until being stood down at 21.49 pending further information from the police. The vulnerable male was located during the night.

03 ASC Log no. 966 ASSAR was put on standby at 09.22 following a request from the police about a high risk missing female in the Woolavington area. Following the planning phase the team was called out at 10.43. Specialist search parties deployed into farmland as part of the broader search effort for the missing female. ASSAR was stood down at 17.45. The police reported the female was found later that evening.

02 ASC Log no. ASSAR was contacted at 02.16 by the police concerning a vulnerable male who was missing. As the incident was on the edge of the Quantock Hills it was passed to Exmoor Search & Rescue Team. No further action was required from ASSAR.

01 ASC Log no. 346 The police contacted ASSAR with concerns over a high risk female in the Fishponds area of Bristol. The team was put on standby at 17.33 and called out at 17.59 to the Oldbury Court Park area. ASSAR search parties deployed into the woodlands and ASSARs Swiftwater Rescue Technicians searched the banks of the River Frome. Nothing was found and the team was stood down at 21.24 pending further information.

26 ASC Log no. 127 The police requested assistance with a search for a missing person suffering from dementia in the Keynsham area. ASSAR was put on standby at 09.17 hrs. At 09.59 the team was stood down as the missing person had been found safe and well.

25 ASC Log 115 ASSAR Incident Controllers were contacted by police at 09.20 concerning an elderly dementia patient in the centre of Bristol. The missing person was located during the planning stage and no further action was required.

24 ASC Log no. 188 The team was put on standby at 10.22 following a request from the police to search for a high risk vulnerable male in the Southmead area of Bristol. Following search plan discussions with the police the team was called out at 10.39. As the members were getting ready to deploy the missing male was located safe and well. The team was stood down at 12.18

23 Avon & Somerset Police contacted the team to request support for an ongoing search on Exmoor. Exmoor Search and Rescue Team had been out overnight searching for a missing 69yo lady. The team was put on standby at 08.44 and then called out at 09.10. The RNLI located the lady on the coastline with a head injury but otherwise well. The team was stood down at 09.57.

22 ASC Log 620 The police contacted the team concerning a bankside search in Bath. The team was put on standby at 09.45 as search plans with other agencies were developed. The team was called out at 10.30 but stood down at 10.50 as the Fire and Rescue Service had located the body of the missing male.

21 ASC Log no. 320 ASSARs assistance was requested by the police to help in the search for a high risk missing male. The team was put on standby at 12.51 and called out at 12.55 to carry out a search of Stockhill Forest on the Mendip Hills. Team members rapidly deployed with police on scene. The missing person was located in the forest by an officer. ASSAR members assisted police with the casualty scene, guiding in resources, extrication and collection of evidence at height. The team was stood down at 19.41hrs.

20 ASC log no. 457 Avon & Somerset Police requested the assistance of ASSAR following concerns over a missing elderly gentleman in east Bristol area. ASSAR was put on standby at 16.03 and then called out at 16.28. Search specialists were deployed into urban parks along with the police and police helicopter. The missing person was found safe and well and returned to his family following assessment by a paramedic. ASSAR was stood down at 18.44.

19 ASC Log no. 483 ASSAR was put on standby at 18.02 following a request from the police. The request for assistance concerned a high-risk missing female in the Thornbury area north of Bristol. We were called out at 18.14. Over 20 specialist search technicians began searching farmland and woods accompanied by the police. The stand-down came at 19.59 as the missing person had returned safely.

18 ASC Log no. 054 ASSAR was called out to assist the police at 04.34 as an elderly lady suffering dementia had gone missing from her home in the Congresbury area. Police dogs, D&S Fire & Rescue and ourselves deployed into different search areas. A member of the public, supported by one of our search teams located the lady on a farm track. ASSAR members provided casualty care as the lady was suffering the effects of being outside for most of the night, while a team 4×4 was brought in to take the lady to waiting paramedics. ASSAR was stood down at 07.00.

17 ASC Log 989 (Continuation from 27/8/16) ASSAR support was requested again by police to search new areas around Wellington for Paul Hyam. The team was called out at 07.16. Search teams covered farmland and streams south of Wellington in conjunction with Exmoor SRT and the police mounted division. Nothing further was found and the team was stood down at 17.37 pending further police investigations.
